I. About CCNU

Central China Normal University (CCNU ) was founded in 1903 in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province. Central China Normal University (CCNU) is a key comprehensive university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education. As one of the universities on the list of 211 National Education Priority Project, Central China Normal University is highly recognized as an important base for cultivating brilliant talents for the country as well as a superior training center for excellent teachers in institutions of higher learning.

The 28 colleges and 67 scientific research institutions of CCNU offer a comprehensive higher education system covering from undergraduates, master, doctoral to post-doctoral programs for full-time and adult students with 3 disciplines listed in the plan of first-class disciplines initiative of China,9 disciplines in the country’s construction plan of national key disciplines and 22 on the Hubei provincial first-class discipline construction list. There are currently more than 32,300 full-time students, including over 18,700 undergraduates,10,100 graduate students, and nearly 900 international students.

Over the years, the university has developed her profound campus culture characteristic of "erudition, love and elegance ", and more than 100 student clubs are active on the campus, such events as "Innovation Cup Science and Culture Festival", the "Boya Lecture Hall", the "12•9 Poetry and Prose Competition" and the "Song of Gui Yuan" have become the most popular campus cultural activities with a great impact in Wuhan and even in China, providing a broad stage for students. The university has a full coverage of campus wireless network and air-conditioning in student dormitories. The library is one of the top libraries in Hubei Province covering an area of nearly 5 0,000 square meters with a collection of more than 3 million books. The advanced "campus literature network management and service system", provides a strong guarantee for students' study and life.

Central China Normal University is one of the first Universities to accept international students. We have established close relationships with many key universities and research institutes in the world. We have conducted school-to-school exchanges and extensive academic cooperation with more than 150 universities from over 70 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Germany, Japan, Russia, France, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam and so forth. Foreign experts and professors are regularly invited to teach at the university. In recent years, lecturers and professors of the university have been constantly sent abroad for further study. The number of teachers going abroad for training, attending international conferences and conducting collaborative research continues to rise. Over the past decades, the Four Confucius Institutes have been established with our overseas counterparts, which have served as pro-active center for the promotion of Chinese culture, boosting the teachers and students exchange to a higher level.
